NICU Addition

The New State-of-the Art Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Rush Copley Medical Center is the area’s only level III NICU; which provides the greatest of care for the tiniest of patients. The vision was to create a soothing space that felt like a home nursery, while still including aspects of playfulness with color and patterns; the design concept was referred to as “ribbons of hope.” The thoughtful and patient-centered design considered healthcare providers, in partnership with families that directly impacts the success of infants in the NICU.The space is entirely designed with family in mind. The NICU provides the space and support needed for parent's to bond with their newborn. Private rooms are available for the NICU patients so that parents and family can visit and stay with the baby at any time. Additionally, the NICU is equipped with a Parent Resource Room that includes computers, education materials, and a quiet environment to relax and recharge if needed.

- Structure and MEP designed to accommodate the addition of a second floor in the future
