Lurie Children’s asked Anderson Mikos to complete a buildout of their outpatient center in Northbrook. Services included:

The outpatient center incorporates precedents from three other outpatient centers completed for this client. Color, textures, geometric patterns, full-height custom digital wallcovering, custom decorative glass film, fiber optic lighting and playful art pieces provide children with positive distractions, visual interest and an opportunity to explore, ideally aiding in a calming and comforting environment.
The free-standing single-story outpatient center’s interior environment was designed with the a theme of exploring, and used elements that were eye-catching and playful, yet calming and sophisticated for children and their families to experience. As children enter the space, they are welcomed by a friendly face at the greeter desk and enticed to enter the waiting room by the playful floor pattern and the dedicated play area within. Accent painted, geometric shaped soffits cue families to the reception desk and six specific exam room pod locations along with digitally printed animal themed wallcovering and artwork, aiding in wayfinding. Modern, durable finishes were utilized throughout with such materials as: plastic laminate millwork, solid surface countertops, carpet tiles for the waiting room, offices and conference room, wood visual vinyl plank flooring for the corridors and waiting room, vinyl composition tiles for exam rooms, exam room passages and nurse work spaces, sheet vinyl and rubber flooring, ceramic tile for the toilet rooms and a thoughtful, flexible lighting scheme.
The project was accomplished under a tight schedule and under budget.
The new facility has created a new and vastly improved patient/family/staff experience.
